I receive a lot of calls regarding how to choose a plan for the coming year. There are a few steps you can take to help you prepare for the upcoming Medicare enrollment period. Every year before Oct 1st, your current plan will send you an “Annual Notice of Change” (ANOC) in the mail. This document outlines the changes in your current plan for the following calendar year. It is important to read this so you understand what to expect from your plan next year. Additionally, Medicare mails a “Medicare and You“ book that outlines the changes in Medicare next year. This document is also a valuable tool to understand the changes in basic Medicare.

Listing what you want in a plan for next year, along with your prescription and doctor list will enable you to compare plan benefits and check to see if your doctor and medications are available in your plan next year. If you want to compare plans there are several ways to do this. My website is mohavemedicareplans.com and you can compare plans on this site, check doctors and medications, as well as enroll in a different plan if you want to change your plan for next year. The link for next year is available the first week of October. Most of the time if you are happy with your current plan you will automatically roll into the plan for the following year.

Of course I am available by phone, email, text or in person to help you navigate the complex world of Medicare plans. I also host several meetings in October to make available materials from the plans for pick up and to answer any questions. Please look for the newsletter from me in September for times and dates. Please contact me if you have any questions or need help with your plan choices.
